Can you do a sperm retrieval (for) a significant other that's in a vegetative state.

I'm sorry that you're in this tough situation. It is certainly possible to retrieve sperm from the testis of a patient in a vegetative state. However, because of the obvious ethical issues, whether or not it can be performed is usually based on the policies of the institution. For many institutions, this is only allowed when the patient had previously outlined the desire for this in legal documents. Unfortunately, many patients in a vegetative state never had the need or chance to create these documents beforehand. In these cases, it is certainly worth discussing with the institution's ethics committee. Best of luck to you and your loved one.
